Winter "Bug" Hits

Well hello world. It has been a LONG few weeks. Our community was hit with a bug that really attacked our family here. On the 14th of February my 6 month old abruptly stopped nursing. She would not take anything except water from a sippy cup. She did not eat or drink for a week and a half. The very idea of nursing seemed to be repulse her. I finally starting using a medicine dispenser and slowly would make her have a few teaspoons. In a desperate attempt I added some milk to baby cereal and spoon-fed her. She seemed to like this new concept of feeding and ate a full box in one day. She still refused to drink anything though and because of this become extremely constipated. The doctor couldn’t find anything wrong with her and was as puzzled as I. I was advised by someone I hold much confidence that if I would give her Rice milk the constipation would go away. One problem… she was not drinking anything. I warmed up some rice milk and forced her to try it. She did fight back quite a bit but Mother’s determination won out. After she let herself taste the milk she started wolfing it down. You can imaging the relief I felt that she was drinking something. The next day she had a successful bowel movement! Two evenings ago Emily decided that she would try nursing. Just like that, no big deal. *sigh* Like I said, its been a long few weeks.
